Managing Opt Out and Opt In
Contacts may sometimes wish to stop receiving text messages from you. TxtSquad has a built-in opt-out system to make this process simple and compliant.
How Contacts Can Opt Out
If a customer sends just the word STOP
to your TxtSquad number, they will be automatically opted out. Once opted out, you will no longer be able to send them text messages.
In addition to STOP
, the following keywords are also supported:
- STOPALL
- UNSUBSCRIBE
- CANCEL
- END
- REVOKE
- OPTOUT
- QUIT
How You Can Opt Out a Contact
You can also manually opt out a contact if they request it. Here’s how:
- Go to the Contacts page in your TxtSquad account.
- Use the search bar to find the contact in the Contacts table.
- Once you locate the correct contact, click the three-dot menu on the right-hand side of their entry.
- Select Opt Out from the menu.
This action immediately prevents any further messages from being sent to that contact.
How Contacts Can Opt Back In
Only the contact can opt themselves back in. You cannot opt in a contact on their behalf.
To re-subscribe, the contact must text one of the following keywords to your TxtSquad number:
- START
- YES
- UNSTOP
Once they do, they will be removed from the opt-out list and you will be able to text them again.
✅ Tip: It’s a good practice to let your contacts know they can reply with STOP
at any time if they no longer wish to receive messages. This helps build trust and keeps you compliant with messaging regulations.
